Manager - Software Development

Job Purpose:

  • As a Manager, Software Development, you will be responsible for managing software development teams on projects of significant size, scope, and complexity.
  • As senior Manager-Software development, you will manage all the operational aspects of the software development teams to ensure business and product objectives are met.
  • As Senior Manager-Software Development, you will provide administrative, technical, and people leadership for multiple and sometimes geographically distributed teams.
  • As Senior Manager-Software Product Development, you will engage with Enterprise Architecture, Core technology and Global IT teams and offer valuable inputs in development of world class online gaming products at IVY.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage the day-to-day activities of the software product development team by defining, implementing and maintaining a coherent, progressive development strategy for our product line.
  • Work with product management & PMO teams to assist in feature prioritization and formulation of functional and technical requirements. Translate complex functional and technical requirements into detailed project plans and schedules
  • Manage and execute against project plans and delivery commitments.
  • Manage and grow an effective development organization by developing and managing the team, conducting performance reviews of team members and mentoring their growth and development.
  • Responsible for overall systems development life cycle.
  • Ensure that projects are completed on time and according to quality standards.
  • Facilitate communication upward and across project team including project status, justifications for variances and technical information (architecture, design and implementation objectives).
  • Serve as focal point for other teams on project status or other project information
  • Evolution of best practices within the organization, including better reporting, tools, and evolution of development methodology
  •  Maintain current technical knowledge to support rapidly changing technology
  •  Create and execute appropriate project plans,  strategies and processes for development activities in concert with business and project management efforts.

Knowledge/Expertise/Qualifications:

  • This position requires a highly technical and seasoned manager, with proven software development skills managing multiple and varied projects as well as 30-40 person technical staff.
  • Proven experience successfully managing numerous simultaneous projects of varied scale and complexity with delivery focus.
  • Proven experience in successfully leading the development of complex applications or technologies.
  • Strong process and project/system management skills
  • Ability to work as a leader and ability to develop working relationships needed to accomplish organizational goals.
  • Understand the current and evolving needs of the product.
  • Thorough knowledge of current software design and development methodologies, processes, best industry practices and techniques.

Education

  • * Earned a Bachelor's degree in software engineering or computer science (advanced degree in business management, technology or planning desirable).
  • * * A minimum of 10 years technical experience in software  product development out of which at least 3-4 years should have been in  managerial role in software product development.   The incumbent should have atleast 2 years of experience in developing world class products for the online gaming industry.

Software Architect

Reports to: Head of Architecture

Job Purpose:

  1. Help translate business-speak into system qualities, repeatable designs and patterns
  2. Maintain and communicate the ongoing systems big picture and the target architecture
  3. Solution design
  4. Set and control the technical product direction by weighing industry trends, competitive information, business requirements.
  5. As expert in multiple technical areas and domain areas, expected to solve wicked problems and provide timely solutions

Primary Responsibilities:

  1. Define and maintain the target architecture
  2. Document, maintain and communicate the big picture continuously
  3. Define and maintain design/development/quality guidelines, policies and standards, structures and models, lists of approved technologies and frameworks, service nomenclatures, design repositories
  4. Relevant innovation in technology, tools, processes with a close watch on the world outside through concepts, benchmarks and evaluations.
  5. Percolate innovations and new technologies with a measured approach (proofs of concept, phased adoption, etc.)
  6. Ensure target architecture and technology roadmaps are aligned with business values, needs and strategy
  7. Evangelize and share relevant knowledge throughout the organization at all levels
  8. Promote the needs for change/innovation with the business leaders, product management, planning organization by presenting the correct business case

Qualifications, experience and knowledge:

Essential:

  1. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  2. Strong interpersonal skills – capable of communicating and influencing at all department levels and with both technical and non-technical individuals
  3. Strong technical background, with hands-on solution design experience for complex problems
  4. Excellent understanding of Object Oriented programming
  5. Demonstrable expertise in multiple technology areas (including hands-on development, debugging), at least 2 of which should be from the list below:
    1. Oracle RDBMS, PL/SQL, Java, ActiveMQ, Terracotta, Esper, Drools, Flash, Flex, Spring, OSGi, Javascript and Rich HTML web building
  6. Should be able to work on multiple parallel streams in short spans of time
  7. Demonstrated technical leadership and mentoring qualities
  8. Experience working with stakeholders / vendors abroad
  9. Readiness to learn new things and an eye for problems

Software Engineer/Senior Software Engineer – Java Web

Job Purpose:

Involvement in code development of gaming software products & related services

Key Responsibilities:

  • Requirements Analysis with product and business teams to understand the requirements
  • Converting business requirements to technical requirements

  • Unit test individual units developed and deliver to QA for functional and integration testing

Systems Analyst – Test

Job Purpose:

Prepare, execute and review test cases for small/ medium/Large size functionalities and track the defects to closure to ensure that the functionalities go live with highest quality. Implement methods/procedures for quality assurance. Lead a team of 5 members.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analysing requirements and identifying the gaps. Get the clarifications in case of any ambiguity and make sure the requirements are well understood.

Senior Project Lead – CMS

Purpose of Role:

This role is for a development lead who possesses both excellent Java skills and the ability to manage an enterprise class web content management system (Day CQ5 preferred).

The web content management system to be managed is utilized by 100+ internal users and provides content management for websites that rank in the top 200 sites worldwide (as per Alexa rankings).

The team leader will manage a team of 4 java developers, whose responsibilities include maintaining and enhancing the web content management and localization systems. This role is ideal for candidates who have a solid hands-on ability with java, understand the requirements of system administration, have the ability to employ creative yet robust solutions to business requirements and have excellent trouble-shooting skills.

This role may progress into a management position for the right individual.

  • Manage team of java developer to deliver against roadmap for content management, providing scalable and robust designs within timeframes.

Job Purpose:

Responsible for supporting customers through emails, phones and chats to address their questions
